Bevara Design House is founded on the premise of responsible, practical, and lasting design. Based in San Francisco, we find inspiration in a variety of locales; from the understated refinement of Scandinavia and Asia to the forward thinking and fresh ocean air of our hometown. We believe in adaptation and innovation, as well as things that function well and don't destroy the environment. In keeping with those ideals, all of our pieces are made from sustainable materials and with the real world in mind.
WHO WE ARE
Stacy Jorgensen is the co-founder and Creative Director of Bevara Design House. A California native with a compulsion for globetrotting, Stacy once found herself inexplicably enrolled in a medical school in France. She enjoyed the cafes and cobblestone streets, but soon learned that there were more important things than learning French words for obscure medical conditions. After biking across the country (on a bicycle, not a Harley), she got married and promptly embarked on a backpacking adventure through Asia with her new husband Erik. In Laos, they got involved with some socially progressive women’s weaving cooperatives and, in 2000, formed a company called Pangea Imports. Subsequent, long-winded discussions about the importance of sustainability and responsibility in design yielded Bevara. Stacy now resides in the comparatively less rambunctious suburbs of Marin County, but relishes the occasional lapse in coherence when the opportunity presents itself. She also likes to dance, though admittedly, not very well.
Erik Jorgensen is the other co-founder of Bevara Design House. He remembers little about his years as a stock trader and prefers to think of them as one long, peculiar dream. These days, he spends his time traveling and trying to impress his kids—aged two and five—which has turned out to be much harder than expected. Erik considers immersing oneself in other cultures a critical part of being a human and has tried to prove it by learning two really difficult languages (German and Japanese). He loves the SF Giants and the Shins, and swears he will never attempt driving in Ho Chi Minh City again.
